Setting Up Your Environment

The easiest way to set up your environment is to download Virtual Box along with the extension to use our virtual machine. This is the recommended route for using the FPAA design tools. However, in the case that you would like to set up Android-Based Robotics or ROS from scratch, here are some instructions.

Android-Based Robotics (ABR)

    1 Install Android Studio

Follow the instructions here to install Android Studio. If the download link does not work, you can download a zip file here.

    2 Connect your Android device

First, enable developer mode on your device. Each device may vary on how to do this. Generally, go to Settings and find the About section. Tap on the build number seven times, which will activate developer mode. Then, connect your phone to the computer with Android Studio running. Open the Android Device Monitor by clicking the small Android mascot icon in the top menu bar. If your phone is listed as an active device, the phone is successfully connected. Otherwise, check that you have the appropriate drivers and try again.

    3 Import OpenCV

Go to the ABR GitHub and check out or download a zip file of any app you wish. A good starting point is the ABR GitHub and check out or download a zip file of any app you wish. A good starting point is the
